I’m not a looser - Ayo Ojueromi

The Gulder Ultimate Search has recorded adventurous contenders from various institutions since its inception, who are mindless of the stress and hunger. In this interview with Ayo Ojueromi, a 2011 ND graduate of NIJ whose key was found in the river bank told Room 104’s Amid Salam about her experience in the jungle. Excerpts:

Room 104:       How did it all started?

Ayo:                The form was free and I registered online. I went for the audition and afterwards I received a text message, and that was it! It was interesting for me. Gradually, we went to Eko hotel and suites. I was so happy. I couldn’t wait to go to the jungle.

Room 104:       When you were attempting the questions on the form, did you ever imagine that you would be part of the jungle contenders?

Ayo:                Yeah! I did. I believe so much in myself because when I saw the remaining female contenders, we were twelve in number; I was able to know the ones that were weak and the ones that were not aggressive. I just built up a character for myself and that’s what I think I used in winning all of them.

Room 104:       When you heard that you’ll be one of the contenders going to the jungle, what was the excitement like?

Ayo:                I was so happy. I had mixed feelings about not loosing and that yes I’m finally going to the jungle. I can’t wait for the money, ultimate woman, last girl standing and many things. I didn’t know I’d be evicted on time.

Room 104:       When you were evicted, were you disappointed in yourself after the so much self-conviction?

Ayo:                At that point, when you were evicted, you would feel bad. When I got to the camp where Chidi asked me to pack my things, I just learnt to live with it because it’s a game. There are winners and loosers. Although, I’m not a looser because I believe this is just a stepping stone for me. I’ll just use that to encourage myself. At least, as a starting point; the sky is not my limit.

Room 104:       So, no matter how minute, you have the recognition now, what do you intend to do next?

Ayo:                I still have other stuffs I want to get myself acquitted to. Soon, I’ll be registering for the Big Brother Africa. I want to start with that for now.

Room 104:       How would you compare Gulder Ultimate Search and Maltina Dance All?

Ayo:                Maltina Dance All is for boys and girls. You just go there and dance. Gulder Ultimate Search is for men and women. In GUS, anything you see on television is real. It is very matured and stressful where one would not eat for five days and still carry on.

Room 104:       Let’s project into the future. In five years, where do you expect yourself?

Ayo:                In my profile, I have it that I want to be a presenter. I want my programmes and shows to reach the people around the globe and I’ve started working on it. I would be getting married, record some achievements on bead-making, hairdo and make-overs.
